All street names added for Avondale Heights & Keilor East

In the last week or so, I've finished collecting all the street names for the Melbourne suburbs of Avondale Heights & Keilor East. There are 3 streets which don't have street signs, looks like I'll have to contact the council.

As described in my last post (First update on mapping OpenStreetMap (long overdue)), I had already collected ~1/2 the street names by riding down main roads and collecting all the street names that I pass by. Then I used the NoName layer to plan a "snake route" which takes me past the ends of all the remaining streets.

BTW, looks like I've previously completed all the missing street names from a few other suburbs: Niddrie, West Essendon & Aberfeldie.
My plan for OSM contribution in the immediate future is to complete the street names of suburbs (I've traced) one by one, before moving onto more tracing or other work. Might need to get a GPS for "other work".

Nicely done there BlueMM :)
That area is looking nice and very complete.
Is there any chance you'll be visiting Macleod / Yallambie?

I've been busy mapping out parts of Templostowe, Lower Plenty, Eltham, Montmorency. Unfortunately for me these areas have rather difficult hills and POIs to map out on bike.

Anyway, good to see all those street names coming in over there.
Rhubarb.

An impressive piece of work! Wish I had the time (and a nearby unmapped area) to work on... Well done!

Rhubarb,
Macleod / Yallambie?? That's a bit far from Essendon on bike!!! Though I do have some friends out that way, but usually drive A to B & back. I feel for you on those hilly sections, we don't have much to complain about out this way. I've ridden Templestowe Road to back home once from Croydon, I think I hit 80kmh down own of those hills!!

Hmm, you've kinda inspired me to bother gathering more names around Newcastle...

Yeah, probably a bit far from your area BlueMM :P
and yeah, going down the hills here is great fun (unless you're trying to map them, oh my poor poor brakes on my bike will need to be changed soon).
It's great when you overtake cars on your bike in a 70 zone :D

Hi BlueMM. I was walking down the Moonee Ponds creek yesterday afternoon and came across an unmapped area around the Essendon Hockey Club. Not too far to ride at all!

You should get a GPS its great fun for mapping the country, mostly I've been mapping around Maldon and Castlemaine these last few months. Like you I find it hard work to get on my bike and cycle all the way up to the ring road to collect street names so I occasionally map some alleys while cycling home from work.

Cheers Neil
