Grrrrrrr! Crashes... recoverable JOSM edits? probably not
English телендә Breezer22 August 2008 баҫылып сыҡты.Using Josm and having input quite a few edits, I managed to cause my Ubuntu PC to kill X... I am guessing the "Keep backup files" only applies when saving files; I hadn't hit save yet, or uploaded stuff... Damn and blast. Damn and blast.

Kill that last post - the "Save button" I wasnt thinking clearly enough (it _is_ 5am!) saved the post, not the map location I clicked on.
Or I'll write it in the comments...
So, I'd been experimenting with video recording of stuff as I cycle around and talking over it to make audio notes; didn't need to care about gps tracks as mostly adding little features where I can id the place nicely already.
Anyway, I am out and about and made a large 'note' with lots of details on my phone; running lots of apps (including gps log, camera, gallery for quick look at which bits didn't appear to have details), when it slows down so I tried to quit a few things (3 java apps plus a couple of phone builtin apps... it was pushing things a bit). But then, it managed to screw up and kill my note I was entering. f*$% %£"& !*$% damn.. Annoying. Lots of post box reference no's gone and a few telephone box no's.
But no panic, right, I still have my near-on 100Mb of mpeg4 video on the phone saved nicely (in high res, perhaps I shoulda turned it down a little for battery saving, but didnt matter this time).
Having got home, I start processing it, and then it gets killed (as mentioned above in the diary post content).... GRRRRR!!!! Not happy! And I've been deleting the video as I do it. I know, I know, I should upload and THEN delete the videos (done in several shorter sections)... It's late... I'm annoyed.. But still want to go back while the memories are fresh in my head.
I was filling in amenities, extra info and a church and pub or two around east side of Park Lane in London.
I'm really too addicted to this aren't I. I need help, right?

That's why it is a good practise to upload the changes every few minutes to OSM. My first editing session took me over a week without uploading ever, then I understood how (J)OSM worked and I started from scratch. Up- and downloading every couple of minutes. ;)
