Rockhampton

Skrevet af CatastropheAsh den 29 juni 2009 på English

I did some more tracing around Rockhampton, last night. I figured it would be a good test of my newly working Yahoo layer, and if the data's there why not make the most of it?

I maybe doubled the suburban street coverage, and then extended down south west until the high resolution maps ran out. I'm not sure how well aligned they are to reality, but it's better'n nothing. Someone local can go through and finish them off. :)

Here's some comparison shots I took because I thought it was cool.

Alignment isn't a big issue so long as it's known that it was all done from Yahoo imagery. Basically when somebody does a few streets with a GPS they can just move the whole area to align with the recent traces.

Oh, and you might want to check the maplint layer. There's a large section which is coming up as "nodes on same spot", it's like the area was uploaded twice. The JOSM validator can fix that error easily I think.

Either way, nice work :). There aren't too many untraced areas like this left in AU anymore.

Looking at the GPS traces there the Yahoo imagery appears to be spot on.
