I'll never know, but I'm really sick of missing streets when I'm editing, then packing away my traces & waypoints never to be seen again.
I keep looking back at areas I've "finished" only to find street names missing, and in one case I've literally surveyed the area four times and still somehow managed to still miss tagging a street name.
There's not a bug that'll drop some changes when uploading at all, is there? I just can't believe I'm that careless, and months on I just couldn't be bothered sorting through my logs to correct the errors. Lamelame.

I usually edit in JOSM in two phases - I add the ways with no tags based on the tracks and then I do the tags from my audio notes. When I do that I first select use 'paste tags' to get a set of basic tags on each way, usually highway=residential,source=survey and name=xx because it's easier to edit an existing tag than add a new one, but it has the side effect that all the ways have 'xx' and I can search for that before uploading to make sure I've not missed one. Of course, I sometimes need to delete that if the name really isn't known or the road has no name.

Don't worry - you're not alone! I have exactly the same problem no matter how careful I am, but my ommissions are usually at the surveying stage. Going back to areas you'll be surprised how much you missed on the first survey. And you can always collect address data on revisits :-)

The problem with surveying an area four times and still not having a name for one road possibly suggests the road in question doesn't have a clearly marked name, or it is unclear where the change between two roadnames happens without studying house numbers. I have had this problem before.

I have missed a few street/place/road/lane/way on the first survey, second time I nail it, and yeah address data is better second time too if you print out osm for the area.

The problem is that I've deliberately set out to fetch these three street names twice now and I've still missed tagging one. I must have been really absent that day. :)

I have same problem and recently started to go through all my track from very beginning to very end, opening each photo I have taken sequentially. After all I'm doing double check, following the way second time. Still sometimes I can miss something or if I was lazy to take some reminder picture I forget about minor changes that could be done.
