Tracing based on Bing maps

I have to agree with you. I find that the accuracy of my traced buildings is better than 3 ft throughout (actually more like 2 ft or better, but I am very conservative when making such claims), as judged by underlays of other aerial images in Potlatch2 and cross-referencing roadways.

Homeowner Associations

Wow, what great feedback! Thanks guys.
@Andrew: Beautiful work, the loving detail is very apparent.
@Josh: Enjoyed the newsletter article. Your HOA is obviously much larger than mine, we are just 128 units, so few of your tagging issues apply to my neighborhood. Nevertheless, I plan to follow your work, so thanks for the hookup.
Sam's IntraMaps come close to what I have in mind after getting the OSM work done, but my dream solution would be a fast, fluid and fun site. My other online love is the Drupal CMS. A shop in Washington DC, DevelopmentSeed, has done a great deal of work integrating maps and textual information into interactive Drupal websites. As an example, check out http://afghanistanelectiondata.org/election/2009/data/. Now project that general site technology onto the highly localized needs of a single neighborhood, and you can begin to imagine what's possible.

OSM gets some new competition: Google Map Maker

I have looked at most mapping solutions in the past month in an effort to help my HOA manage assets better, and concluded that OSM beats them all. Google Map Maker does not change my opinion.

Reasons:
Mapnik renderings are tasteful and place many more details unobtrusively than the commercial competition.
My edits appear online almost instantly, overnight at worst.
I can build on the official OSM data endlessly. Plans are to use OSM tiles, overlay proprietary layers (e.g. waste water lines, trees, irrigation system, etc.) and link down to textual data in a sophisticated Drupal CSM instance.
As to smartphone apps, I use OpenTouchMap on my iPhone4. Works well enough for viewing. For POI editing I have Mapzen.

I agree that a routing app on the OSM home page would add tremendous value to OSM.
