I've been wondering how to tag the area colloquially known as the Champ d'Hydro, near my old home.
It's basically an mix of fields, a ravine, and small, young groves kept clear due to the electric high-tension line. Trees over a given height are razed down every few years by Hydro Québec.
It's not quite any of natural=meadow, natural=scrub, natural=heath, natural=scree (it has ravines and very sandy/rocky soil), though it has some features of them all, and definitely not a landuse=field (mildly confusing, apparently it's for farm field, it's rendered, but undocumented on the wiki), =wood or =forest.
In fact, I'm not entirely sure whether this is landuse or natural...
Any ideas?

One option is to map the
landuse=woodsurrounding the cleared area, leaving the power line’s “right-of-way” untouched. But it would look kind of odd unless you map a good deal of the surrounding woods.I’ve never tried it, but this combination might make some sense:

I've been tagging hydro corridors (that is the area with the power lines underneath, owned by the electric utility) in Toronto with landuse=grass, name=Hydro corridor. This is probably not the best tagging, but it will do.

To me
landuse=grass(as any landuse tag) implies grass that is maintained, and although it is accurate for areas more south of this stretch, this particular area does NOT qualify. And the areas on each side are already mapped properly aslanduse=residentialor=industrial.
