HI EleGlobe, Thanks for your work on improving hierarchy of place names in Auckland. However for this changeset, I feel that if Avondale fits the requirements to be place=town, it should be tagged as such. I would consider that your justification in the note is 'tagging for the renderer'. Different rendering/labelling engines will have very different results in how they render these places, so prioritising one renderer over another shouldn't really factor. Hey NyanSten thanks for the updates,
FYI there has been an upgrade to the walkway along the northern edge, alongside the yacht clubs. So there are several benches there which no longer exist. I have update the area just now. There isn't fresh enough aerial imagery, but you can refer to a Mapillary trace to see the current state. Cheers

This is a turning circle. It used to be the end of the road. The road has been extended, but the turning circle remains, and it is very useful as a turning point. I will reinstate it. Note that the OSM Wiki explicitly describes this situation osm.wiki/Tag:highway%3Dturning_circle

Hi EleGlobe, Statistical Areas do not necessarily equate to a commonly used place name, which is what you'd want for place tags in OSM. If you want to reference official geospatial data for this, I would suggest looking at the "NZ Suburbs and Localities" data from LINZ.

Hi computerOwl,

In Esri's Wayback imagery service the date in the side panel is the date of the imagery release. When you click on the map, the popup indicates the actual date of imagery capture (April 8 2023 - for the townhouses corner of Camberley Court and Lincoln Rd)

Hey computerOwl, please can you double-check your aerial imagery sources. The LINZ aerial layer was recently updated with 2024 dated imagery, so is more up to date than the other sources mentioned.

Kia ora Jeff, welcome to OpenStreetMap. I have reviewed this changeset and can see that it deleted a section of road in the viaduct, and moved a node of a service road at VTNZ at the Strand. It seems to me that these were accidental changes, so I have reverted the changes with my changeset 161188401.
