97186841 | about 4 years ago | Please do not add unknown landuse features into OSM. Read this first: osm.wiki/Tag:landuse%3Dindustrial |
101987155 | about 4 years ago | osm.org/way/923787660#map=17/39.59426/-76.00494 It should be "Industrial Area". However it is not very important to map them. |
74911508 | about 4 years ago | Please be careful with your edits. There is no reason adding "building=yes" to a road. |
64883367 | about 4 years ago | May I ask what is "former" here? I see a fixme of this area, but I have no clue what it is. However, OSM does not map historical things. |
52664731 | about 4 years ago | It should be accurate because it has higher resolution, as a result more checkpoints will be validated from QC. I won't think about offset when using it. Just be careful at border with OH or WV or MD or DE or NJ or NY. Imagery offsets from other states have been found in PA (because all imageries have overlapping areas into neighboring states, so you can use MD imagery to edit PA in border area). Once this layer is added in the next official release, everything will be a lot better. Note that NAIP does have offset as well, I spot one in Tioga county. But it is mostly fine. NAIP is a layer to let you know something is there, that's all it can do because of the poor resolution. Mapbox does provide high resolution UAV images in large cities like Harrisburg or Altoona, but the imagery offset is very distinguishable on road. Maxar is always off the reality so I never use it. ESRI is basically NAIP with higher resolution, it does not work well in rural PA. ESRI Clarity is significantly behind the reality, what you see there could be something from 2013. I don't trust my GPS all the time, although it is probably the best for civilian use at this moment, it is still not a survey grade equipment. |
52664731 | about 4 years ago | I don't like JOSM and I only use it to remove relations. Most of time just playing with iD. |
52664731 | about 4 years ago | If you have time, register yourself at Slack and we can have a long conversation there. There are many people from different region active on Slack. You can also ask questions related to tagging as well. The PEMA imagery URL can be added as "Other" in background setting: It will be included in the next iD release, but the date is unknown right now. I'm an perfectionist so I don't use that often now because using the imagery will leave a long URL in your changeset history like this: |
52664731 | about 4 years ago | Sorry I was not talking about the road. There is a Kwik Fill station north of Marienville, I checked PEMA imagery and it does have offset. Very close to Woodland Dr (Also there is a suspicious text “paramotor, possible refueling location”. I don’t think it belongs here). I was at the gas station yesterday so I took some time checking my GPS as well. In a nutshell I don’t use Bing to edit any place in Pennsylvania. Please consider using PEMA and NAIP only. Bing, ESRI Clarity and Mapbox could be 4-5 years behind. PEMA has the imagery updated every year but it was just added into the editor layer index, so it is not included in the iD you use on this website because iD has not gotten any updates due to the maintainer leaving. He is from PA as well. And I don’t quite get the idea mapping different kind of trees using polygons, but I could be wrong. I generally ignore them, either covering them in a large natural wood area, or mapping them as lines if they really are. The more polygons you draw, the more difficulties will be brought to others when trying to do a cleanup. I’m working on road cleanup in the central (more like rural) Pennsylvania. If you have interests feel free to join #local-pennsylvania on Slack at: https://slack.openstreetmap.us/. |
52664731 | about 4 years ago | I don't think any kind of micromapping here is needed. It probably just makes map worse. BTW your edits in this area all have offset issues. |
80282871 | about 4 years ago | There is no cell phone antenna deployed. |
61338057 | about 4 years ago | Hi, I've removed this nonsense from the map. The cinema could not be verified at anytime on a median. Please be careful with your edits. |
67600161 | about 4 years ago | Please do not add cell towers in this way. There is no need to map it as an area unless it is a huge tower (for example AT&T long line structure) What you should do at least: 1. Add a fence/wall

47620072 | about 4 years ago | sorry, you should *not*. |
47620072 | about 4 years ago | Does it have a name? If not, you should name it as "unamed": |
54105297 | about 4 years ago | If you don't know its name, do not add a weird name. |
89588275 | about 4 years ago | If you don't know its name, do not try to name it. |
16400232 | about 4 years ago | Does it have a name? If not, the name field should be blank. |
38670983 | about 4 years ago | A service road under canopy in a gas station does not qualify as drive-thru. It is just a road with cover. Or just tagging the roof with at a higher layer. I'm not sure if you live in US or not, drive-thru is often seen at fast food, bank and laundromat, that people **do not** have to get off their vehicle to receive the service. In a gas station, unless you live in New Jersey, you have to refill the gas by yourself. You must get off the vehicle. |
97006671 | about 4 years ago | You should not add the parking lot directly to a building. It makes 0 sense. |
72431008 | about 4 years ago | Where did you get the source that this road is paved? You were messing with the map. I'm local. |
