What editors are you using?

Publicât di Detructor ai 26 May 2008 par English.

Hey,

I would like to know what editors do you use?
I'm using potlatch (the online editor).
Why?
Because it is simple and the GPS points are connected automaticly, so I only have to redraw the line.

I've tried JOSM, but JOSM only shows me some points, and it doesn't make the points bigger when I zoom in...it is impossible for me to map with JOSM

Then I've tried Merkaartor...but from Merkaartor I only get a http 400 error, so I can't download map data from OSM.

So: What for an editor you use? And why?

Well a point does not have any dimension, it's logical that when you zoom to have more details the point doesn't grow.
This gives JOSM almost no limit in zooming-dezooming an area like any cad/vector software.
I use Potlatch mainly when I don't have access to JOSM wich is not often since it's on my USB key and I carry it with me.

I prefer JOSM for longer mapping sessions, or using the photo integration.

I use Potlatch for small minor changes or the satellite imagery.

hrmm, i've only used potlatch and mapped a considerable amount of roads using it, sometimes I find that some change aren't saved and have to logoff and on after an hour or so to make sure everythings saved, otherwise no complaints, tried josm and just couldn't get on with it

I find the 'Draw large GPS points' option in the JOSM preferences (first tab) essential, since I can't usually see them otherwise!

Right clicking on a locally loaded gpx file will link up the tracepoints, but it's not recommended for the downloaded gps points - no timestamps are provided so the line drawing can't determine which points belong together.
