first edits

Publicado por Dschwen em 13 agosto 2008 em English.

wow, my first edits (from yesterday) have appeared on the mapnik tiles. I removed the decommissioned railway tracks of the Penn Central Railroad in east Urbana, and corrected the length of an alley segment in my neighbourhood (that part of the alley just isn't there, there are fences and back yards, why did it make it into the thiger data anyways).
On a different note, I wonder if there actually is vandalism on OSM, and how tiny but wrong map edits get detected.

Congratulations! It's a great feeling to have your edits show up for the first time. Also, the Osmarender tiles update much faster (and you can explicitly ask for updates on tiles if you need to).

There are some tags for disused / abandoned railways. Would any of those be suitable for the stretches you looked at?

Anyhow, nice work on keeping things up-to-date. As a "living document", like wikipedia, OSM should be able to stay more up-to-date than other maps, eventually.

The tracks are removed. I heard about plans of using the right-of-way to build a bike path somewhere between Urbana and Danville. Reading the wiki I realized I shoul probably have tagged it railway=abandoned. Is there an easy way of undoing your changes?

osm.wiki/index.php/Potlatch/Keyboard_shortcuts History section says you can press U to show deleted ways (after opening Potlatch on the area concerned). I think you have to click on a lock symbol or something to undelete it.
