Don’t know the answer to your question but your mention of tag ‘books-comics’ has enabled me to improve the tagging of this local comic shop osm.org/node/2517131917 Previously I had just tagged it as ‘shop=comics’ which I wasn’t totally happy with but I couldn’t think of anything more accurate. Thanks :)

Edit - ‘books = comic’ - singular.

I’ve had a deeper look using Overpass Turbo and there seems to be a dearth of comic shops worldwide! At least in the UK local OSM mappers could use your link “a frakkin’ G00gle m*ps” to guide them to their local shop, check out the info on the ground and then add it to OSM. I reckon that would be legitimate surveying rather than copying from an illegal source.

Please do improve the tagging of those shops ! This is really a matter of importance ! ;)

By the way I was not able to get the data into OSMAnd, neither from the kml file or an osm file from converting the kml into JOSM. :(

That’s a field test for another time….

“By the way I was not able to get the data into OSMAnd” I’m a very new user of OSMAnd and I didn’t think that it was possible to input data directly to it. I thought the input was done into the OSM data base and OSMAnd just (eventually) reflected the OSM updates? I could be wrong of course. Another way of getting some action would be to add map notes based on the info in “a frakkin’ G00gle m*ps” and hope that local mappers did the on the ground checking.

I added Orbital Comics which I discovered while walking around Leicester Square and updated Forbidden Planet, Gosh and Mega City Comics.

This last one was tagged shop=comics… That lead me to TagInfo where I found * 32 objects tagged shop=comics * 3 objects tagged with books=comics

Which almost makes me regret having changed Mega City…

osm.wiki/Key:books references [shop=books + books=comic] as the way to do it.

But of course it is not that simple : most comic book stores/shops and anime/manga/japanimation shops sell a lot of licenced products that are not books…

The floor at street level of Forbidden Planet London, for example, has no comics. For books (including comics, manga, art books, fiction…) you have to get downstairs (because, you know… comics in the basement…).

Maybe someone should create a wiki page for shop=comics and start a discussion…
