Hi all!

I signed up a while ago, but I didn't get started until a few days ago. I'm from the Netherlands, but I live in Catarroja, Valencia, Spain. Just some major highways are placed in this area, so I'll have a lot of work to do =)

At this moment my wife is on a business trip and took the GPS, so I will start tracing this weekend. Until then I'll have some time to figure out JOSM and Potlatch.

All tips are welcome!

See you around,

Edwin

Welcome

If you speak spanish also you should try the spanish list, there are some active mappers in Valencia and always its a good idead to meet other mappers for a beer and talking about maps

Also you have a decent yahoo aerial coverage so you can start mapping right now

Best regards

I just subscribed to the Spanish list. I suppose you refer to: http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-es

Always great to hear of new contributors :)

If you're using a GPS that also does sat-nav (i'm guessing that's why your wife took it) then make sure that it doesn't record tracks that are "snapped" to the roads in the copyrighted dataset in its memory. Some do this, but it can sometimes be turned off in the options.

Thanks,
but I'll be using an Acer N35i PocketPC running WindowsCE, so I'll be using different software for route tracing than I do for sat-nav.
I already use the GPS for tracking my hiking and mountain bike trips, so I suppose I won't encounter much problems with that.
