TangoGPS

Ahh. Just home from a mapping trip. I used my Neo1973 along with the program TangoGPS. It can show your position on the openstreetmap, and if you see a road that's not on it, you simply start logging and cycle down that road.

This is absolutely nice!

The Neo again

I've been making progress with the mapping. I'm still using my OpenMoko phone: Neo1973 and I'm still loving it :)

But now there a beginning to come programs for the Neo which can use the map we all a making. This is just so cool. It's really fun cycling around, navigating the city with a map I've helped create. It makes me proud, and gives me a lot more willpower to just go out only tagging new roads.

Mapping is fun

So, I got my Neo1973 and boy is it beautiful! It still doesn't work properly as a phone, but I can wait for that to come.

I've got the GPS to work, and I'm already mapping some of Odense. It is really fulfilling to see your work appear on the OSM page :)

Fortunately there's now a second person in Odense mapping the city. The city is growing on the map. Yey :)

Waiting for Neo1973

Апублікавана карыстальнікам Esben Damgaard 6 Жнівень 2007 на мове English

I've ordered a Neo1973 phone, which has GPS. It is the first completely free (as in freedom) phone (except for the GPS part..).

Since the town I live in (Odense, Denmark) apparently has no roads ;) I'm going to map as much of it as possible. It is the third biggest city in Denmark, so it certainly should be mapped.

In some time the Neo1973 (with the OpenMoko OS based on Linux) should have a program which uses the OSM, and where it should be easy to record new roads. I hope I can be a part of that project, if I find the time and skills to do it.
