go the the region where the gas station is, hoover the "edit" tab, edit with potlatch 2, under "transport", drag the gas station icon to the map and add the things you know in the edit bar.
I assume you live in the Puget sound area. Guess what, I live here too and it's great to see new users contributing to the map to make it awesome. Go ahead and add that gas station; it's not that hard. Potlatch 2 is VERY easy to for new users to get the hang of. Once you get the hang of OSM, you will find that you can add waaaaay more detail to the map than, say, google maps. Just see this example here (osm.org/?lat=47.62816&lon=-122.13482&zoom=16&layers=M). That's how all of OSM should look like in seattle.
