> Are you seriously suggesting that people will search for things using emojis which are simply a transliteration of a 2-character country code rather than just search using that country code
Yes but only on mobile. (I have done it before.)

> we have to work together on it. That's why, before adding something to _every country on earth_ it would make sense to discuss it with people.

Yes I really failed at that part
Sorry.

about the usefulnes:
1. this should enable searching for countries/a few regions with emojis.
(also should work with search engines)
2. looks good and helps identify countries on non windows platforms.

No I did not copy from wikipedia but the list that from unicode and wikipedia is identical

79095999 over 5 years ago

Wikipedia wasn't used as the source I used the unicode website for it but I showed you the wikipedia page which has the identical names and is a lot cleaner

79095999 over 5 years ago

the source is base of
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regional_Indicator_Symbol

about the documentation of the name:Zsye tag:
the Zsye is a special code from ISO 15924 which is used for emojis.

it fits into the format of other names as such and because it was already used in china before this edit I did not write documentation for it.

> because its use may not be directly apparent. In JOSM the codes aren't rendered as flags.
This shouldn't be the case in theory since every unicode system should support them but of the major systems windows does not support it

76871806 almost 6 years ago

I have changed the road name based on the road name of the road there which has the abreviated name.
I did this for consistency.
But if what your saying is correct should the road also get back the "normal name"
