This is my first diary entry for Open Street Maps (OSM.)

The Problem: Area north of the Missouri River, starting about 15 miles to the northwest from Jefferson City, Missouri (following normal river course); STRAIGHT LINE about 14 miles to the east near the hamlet of Lupus, MO; STRAIGHT LINE about 76 miles east-by-southeast ending near the hamlet of Matson, MO; STRAIGHT LINE about 13 miles south, back to the Missouri River.

This is Way #133848663 if I read the information in P2 correctly.

Having read a little of the documentation, I’m not certain if this is a Tag issue, or this local stretch of the Missouri River should be re-done as a multi-polygon, or what.

I’m not certain what is causing this problem at the moment.

Please bear with me on this, as I’m a beginner to all this. Thanks. –Stephen

I don’t see what the problem is.

The river is rendered right? And I can’t find one of those straight lines you are talking about. Can you give an ID of one of them? Then we can investigate if there is a problem.

Btw, I must say your username is very similar to one of the OSM admins: osm.org/user/Firefishy

I took a look at some multi-polygon errors using OSM Inspector. Please have a look at Invalid Geometry relation #933167.

This may also be local to the garmin.openstreetmap.nl server, of course, but I just happened to see that error, and it’s in roughly the right area of the boundaries I have in question. Perhaps not exact, but I don’t know what else it could be.

Again, I’m new, and it will take a while for me to understand how everything is put together.

Thanks for your assistance. I appreciate it.

Oh, and yes, Firefishy is similar, although I do not know the gentleman.

Warm Regards, Firefishe/Stephen

Sanderd17,

Answering your question, yes, the river does appear to be rendered correctly. The river feature, itself, appears on my Dakota 20 from the garmin.openstreetmap.nl maps I use in Base Camp. It’s just that small area that shows up as all water. The rest of the map seems fine.

The data that server uses is taken from the OSM project, so I don’t really know which source is the issue. There is that Invalid Geometry relation #933167, but again, I don’t know if that’s relevant, or not.

Okay, ‘nuff said.

Ok, I’ll investigate that relation. I’m downloading it now, so that takes a while (the Missouri isn’t a small river).

I’ll fix the relation in case it’s broken, and we’ll have to hope it will be fixed.

There were a few errors indeed. But nothing bad. I hope it’s fixed now.
