I came to OpenStreetMap as a runner. I’ve been attempting to complete my city (DeLand, FL, USA) on CityStrides.com, and I would occasionally find errors in their map. So I started editing the roads I was running on. (I’m also walking the streets of Daytona Beach, FL, USA, at lunch time.)

After making an average of a correction or so per week on the roads, I realized that the OSM map contains far more than merely roadways. So I’ve been upping the number of corrections and additions I’m making to the map. Now I’m attempting to make one addition/correction to the map every day. I’m primarily focusing on DeLand and Daytona Beach, but if I have the opportunity to make a change somewhere else, I will. I am not taking a systematic approach to updating the cities; it’s pretty much catch as catch can.

By day I’m a government bureaucrat. Politically I’m a libertarian. I’m married and have two grown daughters.
