Hi,
for my home videos (i.e. vacation films), I've used Microsoft Bing 3D to create a 3D-flight as an intro from my home city to the destination. But Microsoft Bing has closed this feature and I can't find an alternative. Google Maps 3D = Earth is not for free.
I'm an active Open Street Map user and I would be very happy if Open Street Map could add a 3D feature. Especially with a tool to create a 3D-flight and export it to an .AVI file.
Maybe you know an alternative?

It has been done, but it's proprietary (although made by an university): http://www.osm-3d.org/map.htm
Here is some other info: osm.wiki/OSM-3D
And there is also some tool to create X-Plane maps http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?showtopic=35553 but I didn't look into it.

@Sanderd17:
Thank you very much for your reply. That's exactly what I'm looking for. I'll keep an eye on that.

See Category:3D on the wiki, and a couple of other services doing 3D. e.g. latlon.rog does rendering building heights as (sort of) 3D.
