Hi everybody,
after I heard of OSM I instantly became an addict. Before I was geocaching (one of the first in Germany). I added the first 100 nodes and ways and everything runs ok. The tiles aren't updated often enough for a beginner to see his results but I installed KOSMOS and plan to have my own render rules which I might publish. I own a Garmin etrex legend HCx and promise to use it for the right thing :-)
Mostly I use josm with added photos but occasionally I change to the web front end because of the satellite images.
I started with some tracks in the fields, mapped a village and a park. Let's see what is the most fun. For me it's best that I can do it where I want and when I want.
I also peeked into tile rendering but I suppose my compute power will not be sufficient to make a difference ;-)
Mark your waypoints!

Welcome onboard! :)
I come from an geocaching background too, I guess many do.
Careful with those satellite images, they are often a bit off. Try to find some reference spot where you can determine their accuracy and then adjust the stuff you draw from them to it.

Beware, my OSM addiction came along and took away my Geocaching addiction before that went for.
But I love OSM, have fun. :o)

Hi Gary,
A question regarding your etrex Legend HCx: Is it possible to upload OSM maps for display on the etrex? I still own an old "plain" etrex (not even "H", it just displays coordinates, waypoints and tracks) and am trying to figure out which replacement to get to maximize OSM mapping enjoyment (and productivity :-)
