There should be a file called "mkgmap.jar" - you'll need Java to run it, and you'll need to run it from a console. mkgmap does not have a graphical interface.

To make a image file from a osm file you have to type in a Dos-Window (Command)
java -jar mkgmap.jar OSM-File.osm
There are no problems. It runs on my Garmin Extrex legend HCx

Thank you. I have the IMG file now.
I copied it to my Garmin nuvi 670 in the Garmin folder. still the map is not loading,

On my Garmin I have to rename the Image-file to "gmapsupp.img" and copied it in a directory "garmin" (Sorry, my English is not so good, I am better in German).
