Unable to calculate route: no roads near starting point

ߊ߬ ߟߊߦߟߍ߬ߣߍ߲߬ ߦߋ߫ George Kalash ߓߟߏ߫ 21 July 2008 ߦߋ߫ English ߟߋ߬ ߘߐ߫

I tried the osm map on garmin nuvi 670 today in Beirut. The roads are accurate until 2 steps from max. zooming (acceptable).

The problem is that when I try "where to" and specify a point on the map. I get an error "Unable to calculate route: no roads near starting point!"

I used mkgmap to convert from OSM to IMG.

the map is not routable. the garmin probably tries to find a road on the basemap but can't find one. as i understand it routable selfmade maps are in experimental stadium right now... Gary68

You can make routable map from OSM, by converting to MP, and compiling on Mapcenter2.cgpsmapper.com into IMG format. I think you may also have to edit the MP to with GPSMapEdit to automatically add routable nodes.

Thanks - The only tool I found for converting from OSM to MP is osm2mp.pl
Any known reliable tool to use?

Version of this tool only 0.52, but it is already very useful. Discussion (in russian) is here (http://forum.openstreetmap.org/viewtopic.php?id=694).
