My second day of editing around the Birches Head area of Stoke on Trent. Basically I just want to tidy things in my local area and add some more features to a fairly featureless area of the map. I have lived in Stoke for all my life so I know the area pretty well. So far I have concentrated on tweaking the road positioning and making the road shape more accurate. I have added some public footpaths through the off road areas and several shortcuts dotted around the estate. I have found quite a few map errors including some roads joined where they shouldn’t be which results in wrong sat-nav directions. I have also fixed some turn restrictions and wrong traffic-flow direction at a major junction. I have added a few buildings and intend to map every building in my local area with correct names, labels and addresses. I am pleased to see my updates appearing on OSM and I’m waiting to see how long it takes before the additions are incorporated into sat-nav maps.

Discovered OSM through the Skobbler website. First jobs were to align several local roads in relation to the Bing view. Also fixed a couple of roads which were connected where they shouldn’t have been, Prime Street and Mayfield Avenue. Edited turn restrictions at bottom of Keelings Road and Ivy House Road. Smoothed bottom of Cromer Road.
