Fun while planning

Posted by Grillo on 3 August 2010 in English.

I love this residential area. It shows that the planners had some sense of humour and at the same time wanted to connect to the town's roots. I'm guessing it's supposed to look like a viking and all the street names are connected to old Danish kings and queens. This shows that streets don't just have to be planned to maximize efficiency, but that it's also possible to have some fun while planning.

Every time someone looks at a map of the town their eyes are drawn to this neighboorhood.

By the way: anyone who's better than me at drawing can check out the area in Yahoo and fix the streets and green areas to be more symmetrical.

Edit: can't make the map zoom enough, but you should see what I'm talking about. If not, just search for "Thyras väg" and you'll find it.
