I recently got an openmoko neo freerunner gps phone. The gps seems to work very well for mapping. I can walk around a small carpark (20 cars or so), and get straight edges with perfect corners. The sirf III was never that good for details.

I discovered openstreetmaps last week. I started by adding the name for my home street. Yesterday I mapped some cycleways and shortcuts while walking the dogs. Looks like an addictive hobby indeed. :-)
