141391609 | almost 2 years ago | Guido, Actually, checking the history of the way, it doesn’t appear that I modified it at all. Looks the screwed up way some time in the past. Thanks,

141391609 | almost 2 years ago | Hi Guido, Thanks for the check. I only have access to a phone at the moment and I am having trouble identifying what went wrong here. I find it strange that this changeset extends over such a large geographical area. Would you be able to revert this changeset? The soonest that I’d be able to revert would be about a week from now. As far as the ways that I created (using GoMap!), i added layer data to the buildings that the ways pass under, but otherwise I could not identify any self-intersecting ways. Thank you,

128106830 | almost 3 years ago | Actually, I'm a bit confused where this is spelled out, and honestly, I am not sure only used crossing=marked for crossings with stop signs makes sense? If there is a slack discussion, listserv email chain, or wiki discussion on this specifically please direct me towards it!

128106830 | almost 3 years ago | MxxCon, Hmm okay. Sorry about that. I honestly thought I was running with the best guidance per conversations on Slack and wiki. It looks like maybe an opportunity to clarify the wiki page for Key:Crossing In the meantime, should I be using crossing=zebra for the crossings I can observe from aerial imagery? Thanks!

102205897 | about 3 years ago | Hello jmingram1, thanks for your edits! Please make to sure that when tracing from satellite imagery that the buildings are squared. It takes a lot of time for things like this to fixed. Also, you added the word "Home" to the name of the houses. This is incorrect. Only add names to places that publicly feature this name or if it is commonly known by the community by the name. Feel free to message me back, or check out the wiki page for more information on good mapping practices. Happy mapping! |
120768436 | about 3 years ago | Please ignore 'import' in the changeset description. This is a completely manual addition of reference ID for waterways of Massachusetts. |

112478755 | over 3 years ago | Hi MxxCon, thanks for the response :)! I think you explained it really well; I appreciate the patience and thought of your message. I'll use the sidewalk:both=separate tags from now on! And thanks for the insight into the chronology tab, I'll take a look at that next time. Best, IanVG |
112478755 | almost 4 years ago | Thanks MxxCon for the feedback. Not to get nit-picky about this, but I was under the distinct impression that one "may" use the sidewalk tag on the associated highway a separate sidewalk was mapped along. (reading from the wiki page). In other words, it doesn't seem I am under obligation to map the sidewalk on the roads. Also, is sidewalk:both=separate the preferred method for mapping sidewalks? It has around 2,500 uses compared to sidewalk=separate which has around 125,000 uses. I'll be happy to use the :both one if there is an advantage to it. |
105800789 | almost 4 years ago | Hi cmhcmb! Welcome to the OpenStreetMap community. First off thanks for editing, but I noticed that a lot of your objects were simply copy and pasted. Please do not do that, as it really is not contributing high quality data to the OSM map. Also, do not connect the buildings unless you know that they are actually touching, (which I assume they are not). Please let me know if you have any other questions! |
109114563 | almost 4 years ago | In fact, do you detect any kinds of patterns or logic to which rooms (i.e. indoor=room or indoor=area + separate way as indoor=wall) or on which levels this problem is occurring? This is quite bad I am seeking to fix the mistakes I have made. |
109114563 | almost 4 years ago | Hi b-jazz, thank you for the notification. I am using OsmInEdit https://osminedit.pavie.info/ to make these edits to these buildings and I had no idea that any of the rooms were even being duplicated! I am not sure if the duplicated room problem is a user problem or a editor problem, because it seems that I would have to re-trace that room after I already made in order for this problem to occur. Is there a kind of query/ error detection protocol you are running to find these kinds of mistakes. I would like to see where else this has happened. I cannot detect these problems unfortunately, simply through the OsmInEdit editor. Thank you for the help! |

105142052 | about 4 years ago | Hello AveToCaeserius! Thanks for contributing to OpenStreetMap! I’m an active mapper in the Georgia area, but I like to reach out to fellow mappers in the U.S. to let them know that there is large and growing community of people who make OpenStreetMap come to life. The OpenStreetMap wiki (wiki.openstreetmap.org) has a ton of great information on how and what you can map. Thanks and happy mapping!

102015621 | over 4 years ago | Hi Abbk! Thanks for making an edit on OSM and first off, we really appreciate your engagement in the project. OSM is 100% dependent on the activity of users to keep the map up-to-date and high-quality. However, please try to keep your edits close to each-other, the edit you made stretches across the continental U.S. and makes it hard to see where exactly you are making your edits and hard for users like me to find edits in my area. Thanks and hope to see more activity from you in the future!

87576304 | about 5 years ago | HI Zatiranyk! Thanks for the comment. I didn't even realize I made a change (I think it was near Potsdam) and I'm very sorry about that. I do remember briefly going over to see other countries' practices of mapping sidewalk when that happened. Is there any way I can edit my changeset name or other info after the fact so I can include that information? Thanks! |
