Changeset When Comment

Hello,

Please be a little more careful when editing for Maproulette tasks in areas you are not familiar with. This store is Popeye's nutrition supplements, not Popeyes chicken. I reverted your change in osm.org/changeset/76566995

Givins, yeah.

Last bit of detail:

- Eglinton east extension is currently very uncertain and the mapped routing did not follow the latest published plan

The deletion of Line 2 eastern extension doesn't show up in achavi because I attempted to rescue history of osm.org/way/36791403/history and osm.org/way/5907280/history so achavi only shows the after-edit geometry of the retained way, and doesn't show the deleted parts/nodes.

Link to Slack discussion: https://osm-ca.slack.com/archives/CASP8UQNT/p1570388460044200 OSMCanada, #toronto, October 6th 2019 with the following responses: user scruss wrote in favour; Nate Wessel stated they would not object; crantila acknowledged my intention to delete.

I asked "e pt" to update Ontario Line in osm.org/changeset/71711705 in July 2019 but have received no response. The editor has not responded to attempts of several users to contact them as seen in http://resultmaps.neis-one.org/osm-discussion-comments?uid=3193667

The data is already out of date (a big risk with mapping "proposed" transit which is not yet under firm contract, as drawings-on-the-map tend to change often), not done by a local editor, not sourced, and overall not really useful. Frankly I am also not a fan of the user since they never source the edits and their changeset messages are gibberish.

Details from local knowledge:

- Ontario line is currently a political football of undetermined alignment; the alignment drawn by e pt is that of the City's Relief Line (at least south of Danforth) and the actual plan announced by Ontario differs. I asked the user to update this 3 months ago and received no response. That's not to mention that there are other inaccuracies, like that Leaside Don crossing was mapped as tunnel while it was always going to be a bridge

- Line 2 eastern extension is currently a political football of undetermined alignment; the latest proposal does not veer west into STC but rather stays straight and proceeds north to Sheppard, so the map is out of date

- Eglinton west extension is currently a political football of undetermined form (with discussions about how many grade crossings vs underpasses there are to be), and the stretch from Renforth to the airport is not funded and not going to be built for decades

- kept Finch West as there is a contract signed for it so it might actually happen

- kept Yonge subway York extension as its alignment seems pretty set and only the number of stations and timing of construction appear to be problematic

Oh yes, road/sidewalk alignments are to Esri. Bing is very low resolution here. I saw the imported building footprints are about 1-2 m off the Esri imagery, but as I don't know which alignment is correct, I went off Esri since I could trace off it.

Changes to bike lanes on Woodbine from Queen to Norway also from Mapillary and OSC from 2018

Didn't add the stops to 501 relation because I'm planning on doing a proper PTv2 for the 501 soon so it'd be getting hugely changed anyway.

I updated the relations mentioned above in osm.org/changeset/75965260 as I was editing in the area

Hello,

Thank you for your updates here - it's not an easy area to figure out!

In light this changeset having review_requested=yes I'll mention: please double-check public transport relations you end up editing using JOSM's relation tools. Your edit ended up slightly breaking osm.org/relation/10094530 and osm.org/relation/10094531 by creating impossible routing near the John Street Signal House.

https://osmand.net/blog/guideline-pt section "Gap / Gap or unordered before this way" should be a good introduction to this issue. Looks like we might need to split osm.org/way/35444430 into two parts at the switch near the current eastern end.

Thanks,
--Jarek

Ah fair. Looks weird, but that's Toronto cycle infra I guess

75010667 almost 6 years ago

how do bikes get routed from Dowling onto the bridge now?

74779341 almost 6 years ago

And I guessed that Track 1 doesn't have an elevator from aerial imagery not really showing an elevator-like thing unlike for platforms 2/3 and 4. VIA website confirms platforms 2/3 are elevator-accessible from north station building.

I forgot to mention a lot of OpenStreetCam as confirming source.

As I understand, the split-for-intersection-curbs is from a literal reading of osm.wiki/Editing_Standards_and_Conventions#Divided_highways "A divided highway ... is any highway where traffic flows are physically separated by a barrier ... Divided highways should be drawn as separate ways"

Frankly, I'm not a fan of them either. But they've been done so extensively as to amount to a local standard if not worldwide guidance. Any intersection of highway=secondary in 905 is likely to have them. I wouldn't just go in and undo people's editing? I really doubt it was an import, if only because this style has been ongoing, see e.g. osm.org/way/548754091/history which was split in late 2017
