Hello to you too.
1) What do you mean by "once again"? Where did you see me messing up borders? ...
2) Why would the DWG remove "Latvija — Eesti" if it is pretty logical to have a bilingual name=* tag in such a case?

Alan, it is not a matter of discussing, it is a matter of reflecting the reality on the spot!
There are tons of names people won't like in their own countries (ex.: Soviet names in Belarus). However, we, OSM mappers, are not here to reinstate old, pre-war names (or, in the case of Central Asia, old Soviet names) out of nostalgy! If the old name of some mountain was, let's say "Сталина гора" and now it's called "Тоқаев тауы", keeping the old one on the name=* tag is not only pointless, it is an act of vandalism!
We are here to reflect the present reality, certainly not the past!
For past names, we have historical maps for that and "old_name" tags for this purpose on OSM. And it is a rule for all OSM around the world.
Even Belarus OSM has come to it in spring 2022 following the useless war launched by one of their neighbors against the other neighbor.

Please do NOT put only Macedonian name in the name=* tag if the place is between various countries. This is a good practice from all around the world (especially in multilingual Europe), do NOT vandalize the map again. Thank you.

Hello Dawid. I'd refrain from making such statements as it depends with whom you talk to. ;) Believe me, until I found it myself, I did not understand why some Polish people call this city Roztoka. I thought they were joking or exaggerating, but yes, it exists! The name Roztoka does exist, and it is the Polish historical name for Rostock. Remember that this part of Germany was Slavic at first and lots of names have Slavic roots ;) Even Berlin is not a Germanic name, just like "Okmiany" or "Degucie" are not Slavic names ;)

To be honest, I don't understand why Lithuania and Latvia keep so many border checkpoints opened in the current circumstances... Even Poland has left only 2 border checkpoints opened with Belarus: one for trucks and one for cars/buses.
I must admit am pretty angry at Belarusians for their passivity and conformism... They are against the war, but they do nothing to deter that idiot who invited the agressor to its soil

141250473 almost 2 years ago

Hmmm, I look at that a bit differently: I reason taking in account what function does the road have at the moment. Currently, it has no transit function, so I don't see keeping the old classification as relevant.
Btw, do you know whether the local traffic border checkpoints (vietinio eismo PKP) with Belarus are still open? The info I am finding seems to be outdated

You reverted the whole change, which is a mistake because you also reverted my access tags. Please go back to the former.

:D :D :D No problem.
Btw, I always expand abbreviations. In the past, there were tons of places or names in Kazakhstan which abbreviations that are not clear even for Russian speakers, and I sometimes spent 30min. to find what does each abbreviation mean. I even sometimes put notes "do NOT use abbreviations".

Hi,
Perhaps one of those names should be added as "alt_name" and "alt_name:kk" in such case?
I noticed Kazakh users don't seem to agree between themselves in such cases... How come?

139445108 almost 2 years ago

Hi.
Agreements on which side? Russian or Belarusian? On the Belarusian side, I know which agreements there are and they rarely have any issues with my editing.
Agreements aside: yes, theoretically road 15K-1201 and R124 are primary. However, if we follow blindly such agreements, some village or city bypasses will be mark as lesser than the road leading right through the city center.
Currently, neither this stretch of Belarusian R124 neither its Russian equivalent of the 15K-1201 have any kind of function other than local one. I already marked legal prohibitions, but this kind of exceptional road marking is much more functional than you might think: people won't be planning their journey through the former "Three Sisters" monument as long as this border is closed.

I would suggest you, in spite of all, not deleting completely Russian names. Just put them in name:ru.
The "name" tag must be filled with the Kazakh name (if you see a Russian name, just move it to name:ru, and put the Kazakh name there). int_name should be filled with Latin Kazakh (Google Translate can be).
Each time you are deleting the Russian name, someone (not me)
reverts your changes. Not very useful

Hi,
Those 4 tags in 2 places were typos (too quickly written). They were supposed to be name:tt.
Already corrected. Thanks for highlighting this

I am asking, because if it has been demolished, we still need to mention it was here before (with the tags "old_name:*" and "was:..."

Hello Andrijs,
Has the "friendship" kurgan disappeared physically from here?

Jeśli ruch będzie wznowiony, to wtedy należy faktycznie przywrócić dawne oznaczenie.

Hello. This would mean someone needs to check that on the spot. I did this change around 5 months ago, I don't recall right now how I found the railway station name

Таксамо - "Өскемен" na name должен быть. "Усть-Каменогорск" на name:ru.
