Just started | Welcome to OSM, have fun and don't worry too much if you make a mistake it's no biggie. If you get stuck just ask for some help, there is lots of people that would be more than willing to help you out. |
Deleting Unnamed Roads | They would most likely be highway=service, but they are definitely not tracks. |
tracks | Or if you use JOSM make a triangle and press shift+o |
MonopolyCityStreets | You should post this to the main talk list |
driven to details | You aren't addicted until you start naming the species of each tree in road side planter boxes. |
Maryoteya Extension | You can force OSM tiles to update faster by viewing the image and adding /dirty to the end. |
GT-31 frozen | No reset button? |
London building outlines homework assignment | If you are having trouble mapping stuff in London there is always the rest of the world you could help out with :) |
effort for nothing | If you want to see bad imported data take a look at the TIGER dataset, it's much much much worst in a lot of cases compared to GPS surveys. |
Australian Postcodes.... | Circeus: The only problem might be legal issues using information derived from AusPost copyrighted information. |
terrible site | ummm huh? |
New Meet-up group for Vancouver Island | Canada is only 10mill sq km, I guess you have to start some where :) |
Helmet Camera | what are the specs on the camera, and have you uploaded any demo footage? |
Starting out around Moriac | Keep up the good work, I know how it is to have a blank canvas and if you need some help give me a yell. |
population i "is_in" tag | Sorry I can't speak/type Croatian but is_in shouldn't be used, you should make boundary=administrative around the area instead. |
OSM Country stats - new country added | They just have to use the daily change file to update the stats, rather than re-parsing the entire planet file. |
a | Nice work, I've been trying to go past here in the past to map it out but never made it for one reason or another. Do you come to the sunshine coast area much? |
My first diary entry | Roy, the only problem with that logger is the 15 hours per 3xAAA batteries, for grey nomads it would need to plug into the cig socket or be solar powered, but the only solar powered one I know of is very limited in the number of points it can record, under 38,000 for time, lat, lon, hdop. |
Bridleways | Things like bridleways aren't on any maps in Australia that I know of, except for perhaps specialist trail maps but they only cover limited areas per map, not the entire world of all horse riding areas and this is where OSM can excel, specialist maps for specialist uses. This is where google and other map providers will falter, they can't be all things to all people if all they produce is pictures of maps. |
My first diary entry | In this case they had their own Uniden GPS and it can be configured to log raw nmea strings once a second they emailed me 150M of nmea files so far :) As for something simple to use, the biggest problem with grey nomads would be the time they're away you need a large amount of storage space, so cheap loggers on ebay are out, you need to pay a bit extra to get more storage space. Just need to find some more grey nomads to track now :) PS they don't like people knowing about their special camping spots that no one else knows about :) |
