Depending on tags you can use the XAPI interface to download the entire route and open the osm data as a layer in JOSM.

You may have noticed the tiger tags, the majority of US data was imported from census data, however it's not terribly accurate and it's been an ongoing process for people in the US to correct it.

What do you mean by complete exactly?

A lot of the Australian dupes were fixed within about 24 hours of the dupe nodes site being made known to everyone.

There is more to flash then just video, it's an editor written in flash.

Alternatively you can use JOSM which is written in java.

I've been mapping gated communities more or less the same way, although I don't bother with landuse tags, I do use barrier=fence instead...

This is where it's useful to draw around buildings, not just place points of interest.

Seems to be a slight miscalculation in the code where it seems to be based on the person that owns the diary entry rather than the person viewing it.

Go to osm.org and if you click the plus symbol '+' on the top right corner of the map, then select 'data' you can select each individual element.

The map itself will only ever show a small subset of information, that doesn't mean the information itself is lost or not useful for non-graphical representation or custom rendering.

OSM data isn't layered, it's one big blob of data, from which you can pick and choose what is rendered using mapnik, or convert to shape files.

It really depends on what you are trying to achieve as to the best way to do it.

To improve maps you may need higher resolution data, 1 gps point per second if the device has moved more than 10m for example.

Links can also be marked as rel=nofollow so that search engines ignore them, and I thought these were added to diary entries already.

You should have linked to the locations so others could see what you are talking about :)
