I suddenly can't edit wtih Firefox; has something changed?
Опубліковано учасником Josh Parris 13 Березня 2014, мова: EnglishIn this modern age of software just updating itself without alerting the user, I have no idea if my browser (FF25.0.1), OS (Linux Mint 12.04 Maya) or one of my many JavaScript, Flash and Cookie-blocking plug-ins is at fault.
It’s not the OS; I can edit using Chromium. Chromium is locked down a little less tightly than Firefox, but it’s pretty tightly locked down. It’s running HTTPSeverywhere, so that plugin probably isn’t the cause.
Has anything changed on the server side that could have broken my editing?
UPDATE
I get nothing; Potlatch2 just doesn’t start. ID doesn’t either. Is JOSM a variant on the viewer? That’s all that displays there.
An interesting note: If HTTPSeverywhere is disabled, ID starts, but Potlatch2 doesn’t.

Well it would help if you told us what exactly is happening… Does the editor start? If not is there an error message and what does it say? If it does start then are you able to edit? If you can edit then what exactly happens when you try and save? Is there an error message and what does it say?
In short we need information rather than vague descriptions before we can help.

JOSM is a standalone Java editor, the most powerful of them all. If you have JOSM open and click on the Edit with JOSM link it loads up the area in question in the JOSM editor.

Start Firefox with all add-ons disabled. If iD and Potlach now are working, an add-on blocks the content. Probably AddBlock or Ghostery are blocking flash content.

If you were accessing via HTPPS: The thing which has changed is that the www.osm.org site supports https*. I guess you were not using it before. iD was fixed for HTTPS recently, so it runs. Apparently the same did not happen yet for P2. The remote control (e.g. for sending the current map section to JOSM) does not work currently in modern browsers due to blocking of active mixed-content. Yesterday the map did not load for me. I did a cache clearing reload (Ctrl+F5) - and it worked again. Maybe the same for you. This could be caused by new, incompatible script versions.
