139253335 | hampir 2 tahun yang lalu | Hi Gruff. Noticed you’d updated the path I created a while ago. Great it’s now officially open :-) I walked ½ of it on Saturday and corrected my original plot to reflect reality. I assumed the rest of it was to be finished. But looks like what’s there is what we get! Just curious why OSM lists you as the creator, as I did the original plot ?? Not that is really important I guess? Cheers, Keith |

125028321 | hampir 3 tahun yang lalu | Hi Phil, Wow, it was only there for about 2 minutes!! Just a temporary marker (actually a stile) to help with drawing / updating a path to the crags. All edited now :-) Path was a nightmare, hard to follow today with all the very high bracken!! Handy to come across an actual stile, so at least it was a ‘proper’ path at some point… |
116618738 | hampir 3 tahun yang lalu | Thanks Jerry, very helpful. I have, most of the time, just extended or slightly modified existing paths I’ve actually walked, so haven’t had to pay too much attention to this issue to date. Though I can see it’s not trivial at all in a number of cases. Important to get things clear and correct, and not open to ‘interpretation. I’ll Have a good look at those links. Important to work towards some kind of community consensus 👍🏻. |
116618738 | hampir 3 tahun yang lalu | Thanks so much for the kind comment SK53. I will bear it in mind for future updates. BTW, I do normally set all paths to 'footpath'. In this case, in this particular area, there are a number of paths designated either as path or footpath. All a bit confusing, to me. I was attempting to follow the 'trend' if you like of smaller paths being simple 'paths' and more prominent ones being 'footpath'. I know the mountain quite well from 1st hand experience. If you have link to any formal guidance on this it might be of assistance to us less experienced editors of OpenStreetMaps.? Regards, Keith |
