How to change Google Maps to OSM globally
ایہہ 15؍October 2009ء English وچ «Komяpa» لیکھ چھپیا گیا سی۔Tired of all those sites, showing Google Maps instead of mapped-by-you OpenStreetMap, and not going to change? That's time to throw away Google Maps with new map changer!
To use it, add this line to your /etc/hosts (for windows - c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts):
86.57.245.71 mt0.google.com mt1.google.com mt2.google.com mt3.google.com mt.google.com
make sure your proxy (if you use one) has updated its DNS-caches, point your browser to http://maps.google.com and watch OSM appearing instead of old Maps layer.
This service is alpha, bug reports appreciated :)

it may not work at first, but once you press the refresh/reload button after doing that (adding the line for the /etc/hosts file), the map transforms - from the Google one to the OSM one. Sometimes, the layers (and transitioning) are a bit different from what you might expect. Other than that, good job.

except that OSM is also displayed when choosing satellite or relief
