Very diverse mapping today. First I warmed up with some buildings in Haga, Göteborg, Sweden. Very accurate Bing tracing is possible, due to the high quality aerials over Göteborg.
Then on to some building mapping in Padang, Indonesia, as part of the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team effort to trace all buildings in this area that is prone to flooding in the event of earthquakes in the area. I’m very satisfied to actually do some mapping here, finally. The Bing satellite imagery is of quite poor quality, compared to the aerials in Sweden, though. That, combined with my lack of knowledge about the type of buildings in the area, makes it a but frustrating.
Finally I continued my effort with doing some high-detail mapping in my home area, adding sidewalks. The objective is to be able to provide true, detailed pedestrian routing for the blind and people with mobility impairment (e.g. in wheelchairs). I try to map also where there are sloped curbs etc. Tedious, but rewarding.
