Changeset When Comment

Hi, thanks for the notice, and sorry for a delay! If you know opening_date (when it will be fully finished), it would be good to add that tag, so it can be checked semi-automatically when finished (e.g. via osm.wiki/Key:opening_date#Practical_useand either online survey or armchair news searches). But if that "almost" is really just few weeks away, I'm also fine if you prefer to mark them as finished (I've seen too many that get to 90% and then stop due to various issues and turn to ruins instead of being finished, so I personally prefer not to try predicting the future).

As for the imagery, DGU Imagery for Croatia for 2022 (and newer) you can find on https://github.com/osm-hr/mapproxy-hr/ or https://community.openstreetmap.org/t/dgu-ortofoto-2021-2022-2023/116081/5

I've added sources to changeset tag; which is preferred usage nowdays according to osm.wiki/Key:source, hopefully that is fine.

Cheers and happy mapping!

Thanks, I'm aware, unfortunately that is not the only one.
I wish it was typo, but that is due to bug in Commons app (see https://github.com/commons-app/apps-android-commons/issues/5762) which seems to have lost a lot of my queued uploads. :(

As it looks there is no way of getting them back, now that I'm back on flat Internet I'm working of re-creating them with appropriate metadata, but that is slow work (lot of other backlog too). Hopefully I'll be able to catch them up in the next few weeks.
And thanks again for your vigilance!

Hi, just a note if you're not aware: when a (part of the) stream passes under the houses/roads, it should be marked osm.wiki/Tag:tunnel=culvert

Thanks for mapping!

Pozdrav,

I've seen you added "add:country=IQ" tags; it that a typo? I.e. should those be "addr:country=IQ" instead?

Hi, thank you for your interest in Railways on OSM, David!

However, `railway=abandoned` does not seem correct for this specific old razed railway line "Samoborček" - vast majority of it is completely gone for decades and no visible traces remain (except for several abandoned bridges and similar, whose remains which I've surveyed and added Commons pictures for). I'll fix this changeset manually back to `railway=razed`, but please do take note of osm.wiki/Tag:railway=razed and linked pages for differences between unused/abandoned/razed, especially for railway lines which are already mapped. Thanks!

Also, could you in the future add sources used to the changeset comment? This one only mentions Croatia 2019-2020 Aerials, and on those Samoborček railway are missing, so that cannot be the source of railway data.

Note: using Rijeka buildings WFS and #QGIS to prepare data for manual JOSM validation; check as on option for doing semi-manual imports (see also https://community.openstreetmap.org/t/osm-meetup-2023-11-09-online/105853/5)

Hi, thanks for checking! I'm not iD user so I have no idea of its capabilities (and which is operator oversight and which are errors due to iD idiosyncrasies). Even the best of us make random mistakes sometimes, I'm glad you can confirm it is not a workflow error.

I certainly didn't mean to imply you did not act in the good faith, sorry if my terseness came out that way; by "overaggressive changes" I simply meant "things were changed which should not have been changed". Thanks for contributing!

FYI, kada se wikimedia_commons mijenja iz URL-a u samo ime, treba se unescapeati taj URL... npr. osm.org/way/657313407/history gdje je bio "https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Samobor%C4%8Dek_Samobor.jpg" se ne može samo pretvoriti u "File:Samobor%C4%8Dek_Samobor.jpg", nego u "File:Samoborček Samobor.jpg" - v.npr. https://maproulette.org/challenge/40799/task/184499141 i osm.org/changeset/143761533

overagressive wikidata/wikipedia mass-editing; e.g. osm.org/node/2295137953 is not about species:wikidata/wikipedia; instead it is an article/entry about that specific one tree of historic importance. I've fixed that one, would you be kind to check if there are other wrong (not manually verified) changes like that?

(also see osm.org/changeset/133172833) -- I agree, we should not "lie for the renderer" (or for other data consumer, like OsmAnd), see osm.wiki/Tagging_for_the_renderer

Here, I'd use osm.wiki/Lifecycle_prefix e.g. `abandoned:building=*`, `abandoned:operator=*` etc. (at least the first is rendered by OsmAnd, and if the others are not, one should request in OsmAnd that they support it instead of adding clearly incorrect tags like `operator=ex-JNA`.
Or one can use `wikidata=*` tag and add all related historical information there, so it will be shown in OsmAnd. One caring about abandoned features might also be interested in sister-project https://www.openhistoricalmap.org/

`smoothness=impassable` is popular and clear tag to mark that way is unpassable by any wheeled vehicle; see osm.wiki/Key:smoothness
There is also popular osm.wiki/Key:sac_scale to indicate how problematic it is for humans (and horses, I guess). In addition to previously mentioned tags, there is also some use of osm.wiki/Key:bicycle:physical to indicate physical possibility of using a bicycle (instead of legal restrictions), but it has some problems mentioned on their wiki, so I'd personally stick to the `smoothness=impassable` + `sac_scale=*`
