highway=trunk and highway=trunk_link have the same status, the latter represents slip roads. And yes, all slip roads should be highway=x_link, it's just that in some special cases, like the southern junction of the A38 and A516 here, there's no definite point where slip road turns into main road, and so the whole slip road is marked as trunk. In this northern junction, there is a definite end point - the roundabout. Hence these should be marked as trunk_link. The ref or route of any road is irrelevant, as per my example of the A515/A50 multiplex.

Again, just because these ramps *are* the A516, that doesn't mean they *have* to be highway=trunk. The wiki page for highway=trunk_link even says "Use highway=trunk_link for link roads (sliproads and ramps) leading to and from a highway=trunk." As I have seen many times before, the sign colour could be incorrect. For example, there's a green sign here (https://www.mapillary.com/app/?focus=photo&lat=52.9124875&lng=-1.5158363888889&z=17&pKey=211770674253287&x=0.4926006856509276&y=0.5588215907497979&zoom=0) and yet this section of road is marked as a non-primary route (in OSM, highway=primary). So is it marked wrong, or is the sign wrong? Many signs before 1994 - and indeed newer copies - use an outdated colour coding system, and it looks as though this is the case with the roundabout direction signs on the A516 having left the A38. The signs on the off-ramp should be black and white. There are quite a few multiplexes like this, another example being the A50 and A515 to the west of here. All the A515 ramps to/from the A50 at Ashbourne are marked highway=trunk_link. As you say, the ramps at Mickleover should also be marked as highway=trunk_link, but this is a grey area as there is no defined start/finish point of the ramps after they have left the A38, as the A516 is a dual carriageway here. So I would leave the road tagged as highway=trunk throughout in this case. Same for the M26/M20 junction for instance. Unless there is a specified reason, these should be highway=trunk_link. The wiki says so, convention says so. The ref is irrelevant.

I have reverted your changes on the restricted roads in the city centre. The correct tags for the restrictions were already in place, and were already at the correct extents. Please read the wiki for future guidance on how to mark such restrictions, as "motor_vehicle=bus" is not a valid tag.

Not familiar with that way, so I can't comment. But in this case the road is definitely not oneway for buses, cycles and taxis. Only the entrance by the station is restricted. If one wants to use OSM purely as a visual aid then there are dozens of restrictions not marked or either unclear at any zoom level.

I believe it is widely accepted that the status of highways in the UK is reflected by trunk, primary and secondary roads (primary route, non-primary route, and B-road). The class of road may not necessarily reflect the use, as here, but nonetheless it is still a primary route.

There is a green sign at the Cornwallis Terrace end, but only parking signs at the southern end. These are always white regardless of primary status.

The road is not oneway. There is no bus lane running opposite to the direction of traffic, just a bus gate at the northern end restricting access. This is represented by turning restrictions mapped at the station junction. Drivers will not be routed along the road in the southern direction due to these.

Devonshire Road and South Terrace are not A or B-roads. They should not be trunk, primary, or secondary ways.

I would think so, though I was just correcting the maxspeed:type tag rather than the maxspeed tag itself. I cannot verify the maxspeed tag so I won't change it.

Apologies, I should have mentioned it in the changeset. The areas did not give additional information in terms of tags nor geometry, as they were all linear and features such as turning circles are already mapped by nodes. Would you like me to update the road information around the town as compensation?

These were added over 10 years ago, incomplete and no different from the ways already representing the roads around Ingatestone.

Signage does not denote road numbers, official documents do. I'm not familiar with the numbering in Manchester so I can't comment on that. The destination and destination:ref tags here already contain the necessary information given by road signs, including the refs M8 and (M73).

Hi, only C-roads and U-roads in the UK should really use the tag highway_authority_ref. Regardless of what the sign says, the ref as stated in the reference I tagged on the ways is A8(M). Signage was probably only changed for simplicity, however the ref hasn't. There's likely lots of examples of this, whether intentional or whether down to botched/incorrect signage. As for the tagging, I feel highway=motorway is more appropriate, as the A8(M) has it's own number outright.

Please tidy up your edits, not just delete a road segment and be done
