For the first question - Not keeping straight roads straight
I found two connecting service roads missing which I created, and in this process unintentionally, the connecting node is misaligned.

2nd questions about changing the building tag -
Building=commercial is changed to amenity=commerical as service road is overlapping with building polygon and leads to validating error - crossing ways
I agree that just to avoid validating error it is not correct, i would have realigned the building polygon.
I now observe that you have correct the building tag, however, the overlap still exists and will trigger validation error of crossing way.
Please suggest how I go about fixing this error
