Changeset When Comment

Okay, I guess we need to revert this change then, but I don't know how to do that.

I did, but it didn't make much sense, just saying that a 30mph speed limit seemed implausible. I think it needs to be explained better than it is.

Hmm, this is just the way StreetComplete is handling it, maybe we need to bring it up with them.

Thanks, I shall do that, and in the meantime I have disabled this question in StreetComplete.

121828231 over 2 years ago

Fair enough, would you like to notify the StreetComplete people to make this change, or shall I?

Using the app, I can split the way under the bridge and only.answer there, but that still leaves a messy UI and potentially unwanted extra metadata in the OSM database.

Where's the relevant wiki page? It would help me understand more completely what should be done.

I have seen some of these bridges in the UK, but can't remember where.

Perhaps this should be taken up with the StreetComplete team.

Sadly, some motorways require that tall vehicles are in the centre-most lane under certain bridges - I assume the screetcomplete people have a reason for having included this quest.

I guess it's the usual default-assumption vs actually-checked-on-site argument.

Okay, my apologies for the noise.

At the time I made these, I wasn't aware this was meant to be about legality rather than safety - feel free to revert the changeset if you like.

I did all of these while I was a passenger in a car - they were all observations at the time.

Apologies, this is just how StreetCompletw uploads the edits. Maybe I should suggest they group them by county?

124314753 almost 3 years ago

Not for this area, but further South. I'm fairly confident those ones are okay though because they're more familiar roads.

I'm observing from the road using StreetComplete on Android - I'm not using aerial imagery.

124314753 almost 3 years ago

No, I'm not using a database. I'm referring to the sometimes-present solid white lines that can indicate the presence of a shoulder, but don't always. Even if there is a shoulder, it's also not always usable.

124314753 almost 3 years ago

Oh dear, sorry about that. I shall not map any more shoulders for now then. Is there an easy way to revert this changeset?

The problem I have is that sometimes the road states that it has shoulders but they aren't actually usable shoulders, and I'm not sure what to do in those instances.

Maybe I'll file a bug and let them know. Can you point me at the relevant wiki page?

119678023 over 3 years ago

Yeah, that makes sense. I did go down the whole road, to be sure, but yes that would make more sense.

119678023 over 3 years ago

Perhaps. Either way, that's apparently not what StreetComplete was seeing as it offered the prompt. I think maybe it's just an unknown until defined or something, not sure.
