Haven't done any mapping for a while, but just got back from a 3 week tour of Namibia with a heap of GPS logs. The coverage is already pretty good, if it looks pretty sparse on the map that's because it really is pretty sparse on the ground! All the same I found a few extra places and some walking trails.

Spent a couple of hours on Sunday walking some of the little alleyways of the City of London, the kids were keen to explore more of the "secret" ways after seeing a few last week. OSM was by far the best for route planning, even the A to Z doesn't make it clear at a glance which of the various courts and lanes are pedestrian only, whereas OSM clearly shows paths and steps distinct from back streets.
Only found one new alleyway right near Bank and rain stopped play earlier than we'd planned, but it was still great fun.
Back from another week's skiing in the French resort of Isola 2000. I think I've got all the lifts mapped now and almost all of the pistes. One was shut and there were a couple of bits of black run that were just too mogully and scary for me.
Last year I went skiing in Isola 2000 and managed to map most of the resort. I see now that Osmarender is rendering the proposed piste tags.

Going back there again soon and I was wondering if anyone had put together the configuration files to convert the piste and lift ways into Garmin maps? Or better still, made the Garmin piste maps already?
Been a while since I bothered to diarise, but I just got back from a holiday in Pembrokeshire and have been able to fill in a lot more detail for The Havens area and a few other places.
While I was there I went on a few mountain bike rides, trying to stick to bridleways as marked on the OS maps (via tracklogs software) as much as possible. Mostly this was OK but there were several ways on the OS map that simply did not exist any more on the ground.
Before the hols I also went along to the Acton mapping party, named a few streets, met a few other mappers and had a few beers. Good to see you all folks!
Finally finished tracing over my GPX of the Rochdale Canal and adding all the locks and bridges - 50 of each - between Sowerby Bridge and Littleborough.
Went to Mersea Island on Saturday and, using OSM on my Garmin, was surprised to find there was nothing mapped but the coastline. Not even the roads leading to it. Was able to fill in quite a few roads including the causeway onto the island and a couple of footpaths, and have use the aerial images to mark out a few bits of land use, Cudmore park and the village of West Mersea. I also used the aerial images to move the coastline in a few places where it was clearly wrong otherwise the roads and paths I was on would have been underwater!
Just got back from a week on the Rochdale Canal between Sowerby Bridge and Littleborough. Kept a GPS trace the whole way so I've been able to fill in missing sections. However, I also waymarked every bridge and lock that I went through and noted all the names and numbers, but these waypoints are not showing up in Potlach when I edit the GPX. Any ideas why? I though it might have been a lack of timestamps but I tried again to upload the GPX, having edited in timestamps for all the waypoints and it still isn't showing them. I'm sure I've got this to work before!
I've been playing with making a 3D model of the piste data I collected at Isola 2000 ski resort. Taking the GPS tracks that include elevation data and combining them with the ways that I plotted into OSM I've written a little application that will render the resort as a 3D image that can be rotated, zoomed etc. Still a work-in-progress and unlikely to every be generally released, but I'm having fun making it.
Finished off an area north of the Bank of England today and yesterday. Very confusing warren of mainly pedestrian alleyways, many of which tunnel their way through large buildings and all of which are at the bottome of deep urban canyons so the GPS is useless. Mostly I've had to locate them on the map by relation to other ways and with some help from the Yahoo ariel pictures, so they should be topologically correct but may not be in exactly the right place if surveyed.
Added a few more road names near home at the weekend and also paid a visit to Amersham so was able to add in a couple more roads and paths over there. The map is pretty sparse in that area.
Finished off an area bounded by Bishopsgate, Middlesex Street St, Botolph Street and Houndsditch. Found a few more alleys and courts and added names to others. It's a great way to really see all of a local area.
Also added a few streets close to home in Northfields that I'd tracklogged last night. There's a lot of streets near me that have been marked but are unnamed so it is on my to-do-list to go around with a printout and fill them in.
Spent half an hour (or so) walking around the Artillery Lane and Petticoat Lane (Wentworth Street) area, filling in some of the little alleys and naming some roads. There has been and continues to be a lot of building work in the area so the arial images don't show exactly what's on the ground, but are good enough to get an idea of where the ways should go. It's a real warren!
Got back from skiing in Isola 2000, France on Saturday. While I was there I managed to get GPS tracks of most of the Green, Blue and Red runs and took waypoints at the bottom and top of all the lifts. From what I saw of the black runs I didn't fancy them (very mogully) so someone else will have to do them another day. Slightly annoyed to realise I missed out just one lift (PARCS) on the last day so that'll remain off the map. Entered all the lifts with JOSM at the weekend and traced the piste tracks earlier this week, so now waiting for it to show up on the slippy map.
It was fun trying to "complete" the resort, gave another purpose to the week.
