Mark Waypoints on OSM

Posted by PeterKTM on 14 July 2015 in English.

I have been cycling in the Taurus Mountains in Turkey in the summer, and off course water is essentiel. Therefore I have made a waypoint everytime I met a water source, but how do I transfer it to OSM?

Thanks in advance

Peter

In what file format do you keep those waypoints?

I think you could view your waypoints as a layer in JOSM (or some other editor) and add natural=spring (or amenity=drinking_water if applicable) to OpenStreetMap at the places you marked. Pay attention to underlying OpenStreetMap data, some water sources might already have been added.

Hi, Thanks for getting the information. Entering them into OSM will depend on what kind of water source they are …

A tap? man_made=water_tap … with drinking_water=yes,no A spring? .. natural=spring … with drinking_water=yes,no A well? man_made=water_well … with drinking_water=yes,no A bubbler/drinking fountain? amenity=drinking_water Note that this tag doesn’t provide specific information on the type of the water source and implies potability! amenity=water_point waterway=water_point For supply of large quantities of water. emergency=fire_hydrant

Not all of these are rendered.
