What to do with general "notes" ?

Написано от Pieren на 30 април 2013 на English.

I discovered some new (anonymous) “notes” which are not very specific. Something like “addresses are missing here” or “add buildings please”. What should we do with such “notes” ? is there any policy specifying how we can decide to close a “note” (which cannot be unclosed afterwards) ?

I would suggest we take them as an opportunity to get more contributors, maybe reply with something like “openstreetmap is a community effort, and general suggestions like this are not very helpful. Someday a contributor may take the time to collect addresses, draw building footprints, etc. (whatever the note was regarding) - but if that/those thing(s) are important to you, the fastest way to get it done is learn how. I am happy to point out resources or answer your questions as I am able to get you started. Thank you for your note.”

This is an interesting question, but I don’t understand why you’ve chosen to use the diary feature to ask it. Why not put it on http://help.openstreetmap.org ?

Because the help site always says it’s not the right place for debates. Best would be probably on the dying talk-list.

If it’s from anonymous users, I would just close it. They won’t get a notification anyway, as they have no e-mail registered.

If it comes from a normal users (even without edits), I would try to explain what Russell said.
