153567634 | omkring 1 år sedan | Thanks Mashin, I can promise you that if it does not get built within 1 year from now, I will personally delete it the day of, but I do expect it to be built within one year. |
153567634 | omkring 1 år sedan | The bottom third of Future American Perimeter Trail does not follow a well-defined trail, so I would be happy to remove that section based upon your description of ‘proposed trail’ rules above, but I know for a fact that the top two thirds follow a mix of deer trails and unsanctioned overgrown human-made trails. |
153567634 | omkring 1 år sedan | Look on Google Street View at 52 Case Street and look to the southwest, you can just make out an opening which is the deer trail heading into the woods. You will also see in the back several fallen trees that cross the deer trail. |
153567634 | omkring 1 år sedan | This is true, however, A. This path will certainly be built in the future, as it is already in planning. B. Portions of the mapped route, though not exact, follow well-defined deer and unofficial human-made trails through open forest. I chose not to share this detail before as I didn’t think it had any significance to the mapping of the trail itself, but since you brought up well-defined trails, I had no choice but to share it. If you look on Google Street View on Case Street at the northern end of Future American Perimeter Trail, you can just make out the deer trail as it heads in to Enders State Forest. |
153567634 | omkring 1 år sedan | citrula, The Maple Swamp-Discovery Hill Connector was mapped on OSM by an official organization, the New England Mountain Bike Association. I would be careful with what you say regarding their mapping, as from my experience collaborating with them, they don’t take too kindly with their mapping being critiqued, especially from someone who doesn’t work with them. Aside from that, I have already changed ‘Future American Perimeter Trail’ to highway:path=proposed, as that is the best fit for right now. Also, you seem to be missing the point with proposed trails, if a proposed trail wasn’t allowed on OSM, why is there a tag that literally says ‘proposed’? |
153567634 | omkring 1 år sedan | Also, I wanted to note that the section of the Maple Swamp-Discovery Hill Connector, aka Kettle Hole, in Sandwich, Massachusetts, was mapped before it was built, and it used the very same OSM style that ‘Future American Perimeter Trail’ does currently without any issues, so I am confused as to why there is concern regarding ‘Future American Perimeter Trail’ and its style. |
153567634 | omkring 1 år sedan | It should take at least a year to complete, as we are primarily working on conserving 20 Edgerton Road, which is for sale(‘Future American Perimeter Trail’ passes through this parcel). Also, thanks for the feedback, I will change it to proposed:highway=path, though I am not sure it will fit in aesthetically. |
153567634 | omkring 1 år sedan | Just as an FYI, I have seen at least 10 future trails mapped on OSM before they were built, including one that I personally went through all the planning and approval process to create, what makes this one any different? |
153567634 | omkring 1 år sedan | You can ask Rue McKenrick of the American Perimeter Trail Conference if you are still unconvinced. This is a legitimate future segment. |
153567634 | omkring 1 år sedan | It says ‘future’, so not currently, but planning is in progress, and it will exist in the near future. |
141445914 | nästan 2 år sedan | Only the segments in Plymouth and Kingston, Massachusetts are involved in the project and refer to it as The Atlantic Way, if that is what you are asking. In addition, Plymouth is the only one that has passed the planning stage and has an exact route that is ready for physical marking, which should start in October and run all the way to June 2025. All of this information has been conveyed via email and on-site visits, both of which are hard to show for varying reasons. If you ask Diane G Peck from the Plymouth Open Space Committee, she can confirm that a project is in the works there. |
141445914 | nästan 2 år sedan | I have an official website, but it only has the Massachusetts, Connecticut and Virginia segments. There are segments under development as far as South Africa, but these distant segments can only be found via Facebook. With the exception of New Hampshire, all the Atlantic Way Trail segments I have mapped this time are official segments that range from the early review stage to the construction stage. South Carolina and North Carolina are not mapped even though they are in the review stage because the segments under review do not currently exist. Virginia is a special case as well, it is not mapped because most of the segments currently on the website are on-road, and the few off-road pieces have either not been started or, in the case of Pocahontas State Park, on hold. Within the coming weeks, I will be adding the off-road segments of The Atlantic Way between Greenwich and Westport in Connecticut, which is already on the official website, and deleting the segments in New Hampshire and most of Maine, which have not been started, to more accurately match the official website. 131582828 | över 2 år sedan | I have it marked under dirt, and plan to change it to asphalt when construction is complete. I do understand your point, but I included it because it is still walkable, despite the active work site status. Would you like me to make a note regarding it as an active work site? |
