Looking for some special GPS software

Posted by Pixel83 on 8 April 2009 in English.

Hi,

since I haven't found anything suitable through many hours of web search I think I might find someone in here who can help me:

Does someone know freeware tools for WM6 that...
- replace the PDA's off button by a lights-and-touchscreen-off-combination? (to keep logging software running while the pda behaves as if it was off)
- keeps logging data from the gps continously in the background while saving from time to time? (no user interface needed, just log into one file per day or so)
Of course it doesn't matter wether this is achieved by one program or two separate ones..

I currently use NoniGPSplot, but it uses a lot of resources and switching the pda off usually kills the whole log, and keeping it on it will both keep the lights on (although dimmed) and accept user input, which is not good while in a pocket...

Thanks in advance,
Christian

The PDA off button is a "lights-and-touchscreen-off-combination" only after 2 minutes it really switches off.
OSMtracker osm.wiki/Osmtracker
uses something like ResetIdleCounter to prevent the pda from switching off.
I use it switched off to log data.

Hello,
there is a great tracking software that keeps logging with PDA "off".
Has a lot of features (showing Raster Maps, OSM-maps, IMG-Maps and POI) but it is only in german. I can highly recommand this great software.

Hi,

I am using a French program called "ChtiGPS" (http://www.chtisoft.com/us/chtiGPS).
The freeware version is available in German, English, French and Spain language. You can use it, while the PDA is in sleep mode with display off.
