35229324 | over 9 years ago | Hi and welcome to OpenStreetMap. Were you trying to add a house to OpenStreetMap? If yes, you will need to start by clicking "point" button at the top of the iD OpesnStreetMap editor. You can then add the address of a house. At the moment you have renamed the whole road as number 5 Percy Street (which is probably not what you wanted to do). Drop me a reply if you need help.

24734029 | over 9 years ago | fixed. I meant hiking=lwn as per the wiki |
34841569 | over 9 years ago | Well no worries. I'll leave it to your community to work out. I just wanted to highlight that it is not as clear cut as you think it is and the "so fix your software" argument is not particularly helpful when the matter isn't so clear cut and the software developers are usually working unpaid and with lots of other areas to prioritise. |
34841569 | over 9 years ago | So please offer to fix all the software that doesn't currently work in your desired way. Also what to do with a large building that includes multiple addresses (say 1 to 20) and one of these is a cafe at address 18 in that building? |
34841569 | over 9 years ago | Because when they search for Moods bakery they get results that include an address - something that most people would expect. Ultimately it comes down to what you think an "address" is. One could argue that the address is a delivery point and therefore the address should be tagged to the delivery point (letterbox). This would work well for buildings that have multiple addresses. You could also argue that the address is related to the person or business at that location (in which case mapping to a POI is a good idea). Finally you could argue that an address is a reference for a building (which is your preferred approach). All have their flaws. |
34841569 | over 9 years ago | It's cute that things are so clear cut in Bratislava. Shame you're not thinking about the benefit to the end data user but that's one for you to figure out with the local community. |
34841569 | over 9 years ago | Actually as a tourist it is more important to have the address data in the POI so that when you search for the POI you get all the detail you need. My preference would be to move all the POI data on to the building in cases where the POI occupies the building. Something for you to think about: Does opening hours apply to the building (yes) or the POI (yes). |
25465762 | over 9 years ago | Reverted as they don't join. We have higher quality imagery for this region (Coventry and Warwickshire) should you wish to view it. Please search mappa-mercia.org for Warwickshire County Council Aerial imagery and you'll find the tile URL. |
33356812 | almost 10 years ago | Hi JC49, Just to let you know we have a tag to indicate whether paths are official public rights of way. To tag a public footpath scroll down in iD editor to the section where you can add any tag and please add designation=public_footpath. Only do this if you know for sure (e.g. there are the yellow arrow markers on the route) and do not copy from other maps/sources. osm.wiki/Key%3Adesignation#Rights_of_way_in_England_and_Wales Regards,

34162689 | almost 10 years ago | Here it is: https://www.flickr.com/photos/coventrycc/albums/72157651274725823 More specifically: https://www.flickr.com/photos/coventrycc/18009354370/in/album-72157651274725823/ At the bottom of that photo is the current construction site north of the station, south of the A4053. The first building being constructed is the new Council HQ. There is a live webcam at http://friargatecoventry.co.uk/progress/time-lapse-camera/ (All links are copyright photos but I surveyed the area to confirm) |
34162689 | almost 10 years ago | I reverted this as the prior state was correct. The bridge deck was completed a few months ago. Confusing given that the aerial imagery is now out of date. I followed it carefully during construction. |
33549832 | almost 10 years ago | Hi c1995. I'm not sure if Lester also wrote to you via the Inbox system, but if not then let me say welcome to OpenStreetMap. Everyone finds it a bit tricky to do their first edit to the map so making mistakes is not unusual. It's also not to difficult to revert a change if necessary so don't worry about it :-) There are a number of good online guides and we have a local group if you are having trouble ( see www.mappa-mercia.org/contact ). Welcome :-) |
32596596 | almost 10 years ago | Hi,
Perhaps try the other editor "iD", which you can select from the drop down list beside the Edit button. When you first use iD it has a demo mode that will guide you through your first edit. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. We also have a local group (www.mappa-mercia.org) if you are interested in finding out more. Rob |
33301083 | almost 10 years ago | It's not obvious, no, but it does better reflect what is on the ground. For example the cars pulling out of the unmapped driveways on the east of this stretch of road can turn left and travel south (the bus restriction is only a very short segment). I've therefore reverted. |
33301083 | almost 10 years ago | This was (and still is) mapped at the roundabout where the road splits. This is what is on the ground. As such do you mind if I revert this edit? |
32596596 | about 10 years ago | Hi and welcome to OpenStreetMap. It seems like you deleted a few things with this edit (fish and chips shop, recycling facilities, bus stop, greengrocers). Did you intend to do that? If not then this is not a problem as I can undo the deletions. If they have all now closed then I shall leave it as it is (and it's good to have someone new working on the map). Best wishes,
|
32565184 | about 10 years ago | Sorry Will. I overlooked that probably assuming nobody used the tag on the basis that the split between EH and HE happened 1 April 2015 and nobody has raised the issue yet. |
31325532 | about 10 years ago | Is that WCC or a district council? Would be good to know who you are in contact with so we can see how else to help them. In any case a few D refs in a small patch of Alcester surely isn't much to a council that maintains hundreds of roads? Keep me updated. |
31325532 | about 10 years ago | Hi Govanus. Can you put these references in a different tag please as they are not marked on the road signs. Other mappers use "official_ref" for these (as discussed by the UK community). Cheers. |
