"Bunker Bash" Classic Military Vehicles and Living History Event mapping... | The grass tracks in the fields, yes, they'll be gone after the event, to reappear in a year for the next event, but the main track, which wasn't there to start with on the map, will remain - as will the buildings, which weren't plotted either. I think I know what you're going to suggest here, and follow the logic, but let's here a few more opinions, please :) |

"Bunker Bash" Classic Military Vehicles and Living History Event mapping... | Aha - I see what you mean - the coords didn't lock in on the original article - that's now rectified :) |

"Bunker Bash" Classic Military Vehicles and Living History Event mapping... | John, I did - the article should have picked up on the OSM area, and I certainly posted the event URL at the foot of the diary entry. Anyhow, the coords on the OSM are: osm.org/?lat=51.67021&lon=0.26254&zoom=15&layers=B000FTF And the event is being held at Kelvedon Hatch Secret Nuclear Bunker - if all else fails, try Googling "Bunker Bash" :) Cheers, Roger. |

Paddington Mapping Party | Oh yeah - nice photos, too :) |

Paddington Mapping Party | here's a mad thought, harry - weekend day/evening meetings? For example, in the Winter, have the Party on a Saturday, scheduled for before it gets dark, them migrate to the pub once it gets dark :) Sorted ;) Added benefit: You increase the number of available participants - not everyone can make weekday evenings, weekends can often be much more handy for folks ;) Just an idea, anyhow :) Roger |

Paddington mapping party, Slice 3 update (part three and hopefully last!) | Thanks, and LOL - So I see :-) |

Building mapping. How did it go? | Hiya Harry :) Good meeting you all at the pub, and I've finally completed the major and minor edits to Slice 2, with one irritating exception - we need a POI for Internet Posts - phone boxes tags won't do, these things are Pay Per use Internet Access points in the form of a small kiosk post. They're copping up all over the place - there's a couple in Bromley, too, come to think of it! Oh, and thanks for the hint on the road going *though* the Pillars of Hercules pub! Can't make the 29th, though - unfortunately I'm working :( |

Landuse | Hmm... I've got Landsat imagery working in JOSM, but the detail sucks. It's absolutely no good for street-level mapping, mores the pity. I tried, like fsteggink, to get the OpenAerialMap imagery working, but either it doesn't want to play (I get a red box with "exception occurance" plastered all over the tiles!), or there's no open source data available for London. Wouldn't surprise me to find it's the latter, as the last I heard only Millennium Mapping, Yahoo, Google, and The Ordnance Survey, had that kind of data available, and none of it open source. Something for the developing team to ponder at their leisure, I guess ;-) |
