Australia/New Zealand Maps for Garmin - address search problem

First time here, and super impressed!
I was trying to bring my Nuvi 2200 to life again, and I found this happy days!
However I am not able to search for an address or town - in the Where To? section of the GPS. This function works well when searching within New Zealand, but not in Australia…So I joined OpenStreetMap with the hopes of being able to repair the problem, but alas I do not know where to start, please can someone help!

Different people create different renderings of the OSM maps and it may be the download that you have does not have search capabilities.
Of course, the search also relies on the address information actually being in OSM and for many places in Australia there may be no addresses entered. This may change soon as the government has released all Australian addresses via Open Data and someone may take up the challenge to add several million of them to OSM!

Which OSM-Garmin map did you get? There are a few of them!
Addresses … I’d estimate over 80% coverage for road names in NSW following LPI data release to OSM. However some city/suburb names are not correct!
You will need to look at what is missing - city name/area or road name. Then find the information - in a non copyright form that can be used in OSM. Do no use copyright data! Then enter it correctly.
