I am currently writing a coursework essay regarding the 'tensions between neoliberal and empowering forces' via a case study of OSM.

I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could give me some feedback regarding how they find OSM to be 'empowering'.
Or are there anyways you find it disempowering?

As University students at the University of Manchester, we were asked, in a group of three to complete a piece of coursework in which we mapped an area of Manchester, for surveillance and security and uploaded it onto OSM, and consequently edited the map on Cloudmade and Paint.net.

We are interested in getting feedback on the findings documented in our report and on the map, as we still have three weeks left to complete the project it may help us improve both the written report and map (and would form a good focus group).

We are students in Manchester mapping surveillance and security in an area of Fallowfield as part of a University piece of coursework.

The equipment we have been given is: Garmin GPS 60

We went out and plotted way points for speed cameras and CCTV cameras, we then tagged the sites on JOSM. However, we can't upload the points onto OSM - it says 'pending' yet then keeps sending us 'failure' e-mails. We have tried to do so on different accounts and different computers. Is there anything else we may have overlooked that is causing the problem?

We are new to OSM. We are University students in Manchester, and as part of our second year coursework module we are required to map an area of Fallowfield, Manchester using GPS equipment, and then upload and edit it on the computer, and ultimately write a critical report on the process. We have chosen to focus our mapping on surveillance and security in the aforesaid area. This issue is very topical, and there is much literature surrounding it; however if anyone has any practical tips then that would be very much appreciated!
