This trail is no longer in use. It appears to be a very overgrown old road, but around this point it fades away and is washed out in sections. We were able to bush whack back to the road, but this trail is not recommended. Attempted June 18, 2022.

Trail is washed out and on a very unstable scree slope with a small cliff at the bottom. We searched this area extensively but there are only little bits of the trail remaining and no safe way that we could find to get down the cliff and cross Newport Creek safely. This segment should be removed. We researched and others reported similar problems going back a couple of years. Our attempt date was May 22, 2022.
