First GPS trace

Posted by Steeley on 20 August 2009 in English.

Bought a Qstarz BT-Q1300 the other day and after an initial struggle getting access to the data in Ubuntu (managed it with BT747), I went out on the bike for half an hour mapping some of my local area.

That data is now on the map and should render in a few hours if all goes well.

Due to the lack of Yahoo mapping coverage in my area, it looks like I'm going to have plenty to do...

Edit:

Decided to go out again since the rain was holding off. Got an hour in and mapped a few tracks and roads. Mapping tracks is very difficult though. Just off my estate is a large parkland, where mining used to take place many years ago. Should be interesting trying to add the numerous paths that are in there.
