OpenStreetMap on Android

A friend got a hold of an HTC Magic Android device and gave OpenStreetMap a shot.

A picture is worth 1024 words, so here it is:

The software works, but isn't yet quite there where it could be. Most expected features are present, but one has to use various programs to get them. There still is no program, that would simultaneously cover the basic features:

  • Offline routing (AndNav2 needs to be online for routing, but map tiles can be preloaded)
  • Vector data rendering (MapDroyd does it, but does nothing else)

I started the Android wiki page and category to summarize "the state of OSM" for Android devices.

That's cool. I subscribed to that RSS Feed of the blog so i'll be up-to-date on the development.
Great News!
