It looks like someone has done the rest of the roads that I never got around to. Thanks to whoever you are. There are still a lot of footpaths that could be added. That's a project for the summer.

Mapped some in the car and more on foot as I was hanging around there anyway. I'm there whilst my kids do their music school, so will try to fill it out.

We did another Arlesey walk at the weekend and I mapped it. There is still lots to do.

Went for a walk around local footpaths and mapped them. This is my first contribution in about 7 months. Took me a while to get back into using Josm.

Interesting article on Linux.com about how hard the import is proving. Seems it still has about a year to run.

I've been helping the author with testing and suggesting improvements. He has been very helpful. It's gradually evolving into what I had wanted for an OSM mapping tool. It can use OSM tiles so you can see what is already mapped.

I have some issues with my position lagging behind my actual location. This may be due to my old Acer n35 being a bit slow, but he's looking at improving performance. I can run Tomtom and other GPS apps, so it should be possible.

My latest request is for more control over the rate of logging. I think that it should be dynamic, taking distance covered and change in heading into account. He's working on that too.

There's a page on the wiki for the application with a wish list.

There's an 'Add as a friend' link on OSM profiles, but I can't see what benefit it's giving. It's obviously storing something as it tells me if I have already added them, but I would expect to have easy access to friends' diaries etc.

I still need to do my traces from my visit, but I just noticed that we have some vandalism on the Mapnik layer. Someone has put some random motorways across it.

I realise that this is a politically sensitive area, but what is to be gained from spoiling a project like this?

Just looked at the render of my local area and noticed a couple of things

1. There are roundabout icons on the mini-roundabouts, but they go the wrong way for the UK. Not sure what could be done about that as most countries drive on the right.

2. All the roads have a (c) tag. I assume this indicates who added them. I suspect it doesn't really mean Copyright

I've been playing with this software on my Pocket PC, but have some issues that I'm trying to figure out with help from the author. It has the great feature of being able to display OSM tiles and overlay what you are logging. My problem is that the map position tends to lag behind where I actually am.

I started a wiki page for the app. It's already getting some feedback.

Last night I tagged the ways I previously created in Ireland. I noticed that lots of place names appear around there now, but are not on the slippy. I assume that they were imported from somewhere such as Geonames.

My little talk went down very well. I may have inspired one or two people to get involved.

It looks like I am doing a brief talk about OSM at the LUG tonight. We had some of the Bedford guys over last year, but it's time for a refresher.

I was going to say when/why it started, how to contribute and about the current status. Any suggestions on other things I should mention?

I haven't had time to plot out my traces from Israel yet. I still need to get presets working again in JOSM, but I'm not finding much information. I did ask in the IRC, but nobody responded. I would use the mailing list, but I'm not sure I have the time to get into that. I prefer forums for this sort of question as you can dip in when you need information.

I'm in Tel Aviv for work. I see there is some data for here, but only of main roads. I'd like to get some traces, but it can be hard to find the time on a brief visit. My best chance would be to collect data whilst riding taxis to the office, but does that work very well?

I'm slightly wary of arousing suspicion. This is a very security conscious place and they may not react well to a foreigner collecting that sort of information. Not that I plan to go near any sensitive areas.

I've got some traces that I have started mapping out in Josm. I updated to the latest version, but now it's not using my presets file, which makes it trickier to tag things. I'll at least gets some ways in for now.

I'm on holiday in south-west Ireland next week. The area does not seem to be mapped much. I shall certainly collect traces, but I may not be able to record all the road details.

I keep adding more roads whenever I go somewhere new, but haven't had the time to collect all the names. Going out just to map is just not possible at the moment.

I see someone has added roads to Stotfold. I also saw some segments for Langford, but had not converted them to ways. I'll double check them if I'm out that way again.

Collected some traces south of York last week, but didn't have a chance to get street names etc. Some of those roads were not mapped before.
